Your Job is Not your Purpose
Your Job is Not Your Purpose
Luke Wronski
I was reminded of an old Dallas Willard lecture recently where he separates four things we often collapse into one:
Job: How you earn a living.
Ministry: The particular places God has allotted to you where He is doing something through you.
Work: The total amount of lasting good you will produce over your lifetime. Your contribution.
Life: You. The person you are becoming.
The tragic mistake is allowing our job to expand until it consumes all the other categories.
We begin measuring our lives by what we accomplish, what we build, or how significant our careers appear.
But what God ultimately gets out of your life is the person He made you to be.
God has foreseen a kingdom for you from the foundation of the world. A place where your little kingdom is caught up into His Kingdom, and redemption can begin to occur in every aspect of your life.
Your job. Your ministry. Your work. Your relationships. Your neighborhood. Your existence outside of anything productive.
