Leadership & Identity
This week in the Entrepreneur Lab, we launched our fall term with the first module: Leadership and Identity.
In our first week with new Director, Jonathon Murillo, students dug into their identity. They asked formative questions about who they are, how it shapes their work, and the impact they’re called to make.
Here are the systems, exercises, and worksheets they worked through!
Discovering Their Leadership Voice
Students discovered their foundational leadership voice through the 5 Voices System, identifying whether they speak Nurturer, Creator, Guardian, Connector, or Pioneer. This gave them insight into their natural strengths as well as the “weapon systems” they need to keep in check to lead wisely.
Story Mapping Worksheet
Through story mapping, students traced how their upbringing and life experiences have shaped the way they live, work, and lead. This gave them clarity not only on their past, but also on how their personal stories will influence the kind of entrepreneurs they are becoming.
Core Purpose Framework
Finally, our cofounder, Jeff Tanner, guided students through our Core Purpose Framework. Using a guided workbook, they explored four foundational questions:
What is my zone of genius?
What moves my spirit?
What does the world need from me?
What's my core unit of value?
At the intersection of these questions emerge four guiding themes: Calling, Witness, Responsibility, and Provision. Together, they point students toward the heart of their Core Purpose. This framework will soon be available to prospective students through our Online Entrepreneurship Course.
During the Lab, one of our newest students, Ethan, reflected on his path toward becoming a church planter, saying, "Being at Hildegard has confirmed that I'm on the right track.”
Helping students like Ethan continue to grow as leaders is what the Entrepreneur Lab is all about. Our students are not only learning how to build new ventures, they’re learning how to become leaders who shape culture with clarity, conviction, and creativity.
Throughout the semester, we’ll share more stories from the Entrepreneur Lab as our students take their next steps in discovering, designing, and launching their ventures. Make sure you following along!
